What’s happening to Mealime
Mealime will be discontinued on October 21, 2026. Its own closing notice says that all personal data is deleted when the app shuts down. Mealime’s recipes move to Meals Hub, inside Albertsons Companies’ grocery apps such as Safeway, Albertsons, Vons and Jewel-Osco.
If you want a planner that isn’t tied to one grocery chain, and that the whole house can use, that’s what foodoodle is. Read Mealime’s notice.
Bring the recipes you cook
foodoodle starts from what your household already cooks. Getting a recipe in takes a few seconds:
- Screenshot it. foodoodle’s scanner reads screenshots, cookbook pages and handwritten cards, and turns each one into a recipe you can edit. Screenshot the recipes you love in Mealime before October 21.
- Paste a link. Any recipe page on the web, or a video. The link stays attached, so the original is one tap away.
- Type the name. Enter “chicken tikka masala” and foodoodle writes a full recipe you can change.
- Add from the public book. Recipes from foodoodle’s kitchen and other households, each one tap into your book.
What’s different about foodoodle
foodoodle is built for a household, not one person’s phone.
- Everyone votes, one person decides. Members vote on the week’s dinners from their own phones. A planner makes the call.
- One grocery list for the house. Built from the week’s meals, minus what’s already at home, grouped by aisle. How the list works.
- Everyone’s restrictions, on every meal. Allergies and no-gos are saved per person and checked against every dinner. How the check works.
- Kids without accounts. Add a profile for each child. You manage it.
- Your own AI, if you want it. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Muse or Alexa and ask what’s for dinner. How to connect.
Getting started
Setup is one screen: name your household. Add the people who eat there and any allergies whenever you like. After that, a week takes about four minutes. It runs in the browser on iPhone, Android and desktop, and adds to your home screen like an app. Free until November 4. No card.
foodoodle isn’t affiliated with Mealime or Albertsons Companies. Mealime is a trademark of its owner.
