Foodoodle vs Cozi

A Cozi alternative built around dinner.

Foodoodle is a Cozi alternative for the parent everyone asks “what’s for dinner?”: a family meal planner with a shared calendar, chores and one grocery list, built around the one thing on it every day.

How is Foodoodle different from Cozi?

  • Cozi

    Built around the family calendar.

In its own words, “the surprisingly simple way to manage everyday family life”: a shared calendar, reminders, grocery and to-do lists, and a meal planner and recipe box, on iPhone, Android and the web.

Great if the calendar runs your house, and you want it connected to Google, Apple or Outlook calendars.

  • Foodoodle

    Built around dinner.

A family meal planner: dinner for the whole house, checked against everyone’s allergies and evenings, with one grocery list that builds itself, a family calendar and chores that take turns.

Great if “what’s for dinner?” is the question you answer every day.

Cozi starts from the calendar. Foodoodle starts from dinner, and puts the calendar and the chores around it.

What does dinner look like in Foodoodle?

  • Everyone votes, one person decides. The week’s dinners get a vote from everyone’s own phone, and a planner makes the call.
  • Every dinner checked. Allergies and no-gos are saved for each person and checked on every dinner, and anything that may conflict is flagged first. A helper, not a guarantee. How the check works.
  • A list that builds itself. The week’s dinners fill the grocery list, scaled to who’s eating, minus what’s already at home. How the list works.
  • Practice meets dinner. When someone’s event runs into dinner, Foodoodle asks if they’re out before you cook. How the calendar works.
  • Chores tied to dinner. Dishes after dinner only show up on nights there’s a dinner, and take turns. How chores work.

Does Foodoodle sync with Google Calendar?

Not yet. Foodoodle’s family calendar holds the events that shape the week, like practices, games, late meetings and visits, and checks them against dinner, but it doesn’t connect to Google, Apple or Outlook calendars. If your family lives in one of those, keep it, and add the evenings that change who’s home for dinner.

Moving from Cozi

  • A recipe you saved from a website. Paste the link it came from. It comes in with its ingredients and steps, free.
  • A recipe you typed in. Type it into Foodoodle, or screenshot it and scan it in.
  • Your grocery list. Add what you still need. Anything a planned dinner needs goes on by itself.
  • Your calendar. Add this week’s and next week’s events. There’s no calendar import yet.

Recipes come over one at a time, so start with the dinners you cook most. Scanning and writing recipes come with the 7 days and the plan; typing a recipe in or pasting a link is free.

Foodoodle isn’t affiliated with Cozi. Cozi is a trademark of its owner. What this page says about Cozi comes from its own website and App Store listing, as of October 27, 2026.
