Baklava
Layers of phyllo, walnuts, and honey syrup; a classic Mediterranean dessert that’s perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients
- 8 phyllo sheets, thawed if frozen
- 100 g walnuts, chopped
- 50 g butter, melted
- 100 g honey
- 50 g sugar
- 75 ml water
- 1 cinnamon stick

Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). 5 min
- In a bowl, mix chopped walnuts and sugar. 5 min
- Grease a baking dish with some melted butter. 2 min
- Layer 4 sheets of phyllo in the baking dish, brushing each with melted butter. 5 min
- Spread half the walnut mixture over the phyllo layers. 2 min
- Layer 2 more phyllo sheets on top, brushing with butter again. 5 min
- Spread the remaining walnut mixture over the phyllo layers. 2 min
- Top with the last 2 sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter. 5 min
- Cut the baklava into diamond shapes with a sharp knife before baking. 3 min
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown. 40 min
- While baking, combine water, honey, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan; bring to a boil. 5 min
- Remove from heat and let cool. Pour over the baklava once it's out of the oven. 5 min
